Team
I’m Karen Wolf and I’m the owner of OMB. I have been working in Administration and Bookkeeping since 2005, firstly as an employee and then as a sole trader. My previous roles have given me plenty of experience with many businesses, large and small. I’ve worked as an Office Manager for a small Accountants team, bookkeeping for a Building Contractor, but I started my career as an Administration Assistant for a retail chain and then a national charity. I also have a natural passion for paperwork, which helps when looking after small businesses.
After working for a different small firm of Accountants where I was asked to draft the basic year end returns with limited experience but no accounting qualifications or full understanding as to whether I was doing it correctly, but when I asked the question why, I was given the answer, ‘because that’s the way it’s done, don’t worry I’ll check it to make sure it’s correct’, It spurred me on to learn exactly what I was doing, why I had to do it the way it was done and what it all meant, so that I could explain to anyone who asked me. In 2016 I qualified with the Association of Accounting Technicians AAT and so I now offer Accountancy as well as Administration Support, Bookkeeping and Advisory Services. I chose to focus on small businesses and start ups as I believe that they are the businesses who need most support and can sometimes feel intimidated by the larger Accountancy firms who feel more ‘corporate’. That doesn’t mean that I’m not professional, it just means that I’m more than likely to be found working in a pair of jeans and will happily explain the logic of a Profit and Loss Statement or Balance Sheet in ways that my clients will understand and not be afraid to ask me again if they don’t get it. How can it be a stupid question if you don’t already know the answer?
Over the numerous years I’ve been in business, I’ve gained lots of knowledge and experience and have helped many people to focus and succeed in their goals.
Bentley and Bunny are my reluctant office mascots. They are both pure breed Great Danes rescues, even though Bunny is affectionately known as a ‘Dinky Dane’ because of her size. Bentley will come up to meet you with all the gusto of a young dane (brace yourself!), but Bunny is more likely to run away, unless she’s sure she can trust you, but both are quite happy to put in an appearance on a zoom call though if they feel left out!
